Privacy & data

Ideome is a static web app. We explain below exactly what data stays in your browser, what leaves it, and what is never collected.

Browser localStorage

Ideome stores small amounts of data in your browser's localStorage: your recent run IDs (so you can re-open them), your dismissed onboarding state, your preferred colour theme, and any imported run JSON you pin to the comparison builder. None of this data is sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data removes it entirely.

Demo / sample mode

When no API is configured, Ideome shows baked-in sample runs. This data is bundled with the app and requires no network request. No information about you is involved.

Uploaded JSON

The Import page lets you paste or upload an Ideome run summary JSON. This file is parsed locally in your browser. It is never sent to our servers unless you explicitly click an action that calls a configured API endpoint.

Run IDs and shareable links

When you complete a live run through the API, a run ID is assigned by the server and stored in your browser's recent-runs list. Run IDs behave like short-lived shareable links: anyone who knows a run ID can fetch the same result from the API. Do not enter sensitive data as seed ideas.

Analytics

Ideome does not currently use any analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts. We may add privacy-respecting aggregate analytics (no personal identifiers) in a future update. This page will be updated before that happens.

Cookies

Ideome does not set any cookies. Theme and onboarding preferences are stored in localStorage, not cookies.
